PRINCIPAL'S UPDATE
Dear ARHS families,

First, I want to wish all of our students, families, and staff the best for a long and restful summer. I am hopeful that you are able to spend lots of time in the coming months with loved ones doing things that are restorative and that you enjoy.

Additionally, I am writing to share with you the following brief updates:
  • Report cards: Report cards will be emailed out through ParentSquare on June 17, at the end of the day. After that time, please log on to PowerSchool by clicking here to see report cards.
  • 2025-2026 School calendar: Next year’s school calendar is here. Students' first day is August 28. Students' last day is June 18 (if there are no snow days). Graduation is on June 6.
  • Fall Athletics registration now open: Registration for Fall athletics is now open. The deadline for registering to play a fall sport is noon on August 13. Learn more here
  • Summer Reading: The English Department encourages students to read for pleasure and embrace the power of choice during the summer months. They understand the importance of taking a well-earned break, but they also believe that keeping up with sustained reading helps build empathy, imagination, and critical thinking, especially when you find the right story. The titles on our summer reading list, which is here, are recommendations from English teachers to help students discover books that resonate and inspire. While reading is recommended, not required,  students enrolled in AP English courses should check CANVAS for their required summer reading assignments. If these titles don’t appeal to you, read whatever you’d like, or head to the ARHS Library webpage and pick a title from the MASS Teen Choice Book Award video that Ms. Honey put together.

Have a great summer, Titans!

Sincerely,
Sean Bevan

Celebrations

LGBTQ Pride Month

LGBTQ Pride Month is commemorated each year in June to honor the 1969 Stonewall uprising in New York City. In June of 1969, patrons and supporters of the Stonewall Inn staged an uprising to resist the police harassment and persecution to which LGBTQ Americans were commonly subjected. This uprising marked the beginning of a movement to outlaw discriminatory laws and practices against LGBTQ Americans. LGBTQ Pride Month is an excellent time to talk with students about LGBTQ people and their struggles to achieve equity and justice in all aspects of their lives. It is an opportunity to learn about important LGBTQ people in history, read literature that features LGBTQ people, analyze heterosexism and explore its causes and solutions.

Juneteenth

“Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day when federal troops arrived in GalvestonTexas in 1865 to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people were freed. The troops’ arrival came a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth honors the end to slavery in the United States and is considered the longest-running African American holiday.” - What is Juneteenth? - History Channel
