SAT Prep: Evening Course for Juniors and Seniors–registration opens soon
Good morning,
I am writing to share with you information about a comprehensive 6-week evening SAT preparation program that we are offering to seniors and juniors. Please review the details below to learn more, including how to register. Please contact SAT Prep Program Coordinator, Lindsay Coppens, at lcoppens@nsboro.k12.ma.us with questions.
Program Overview: The course is a comprehensive 6-week evening SAT preparation program designed to help students maximize their test scores. Though this section of the program is designed to prepare students for the Oct. 4 exam, it is open to any ARHS junior or senior, regardless of whether they plan to take that exam. We will also offer the course during semester 2 to correlate with future exam dates. While the course is open to all seniors and juniors, we recommend that juniors who have not yet completed Algebra II wait to take the course in the winter/spring, unless they plan to take the SAT this fall.
The program includes a pretest and twice-weekly sessions, each lasting two hours, where ARHS teachers provide in-depth reviews of the critical skills students need to master to succeed on the Reading and Writing and Math sections. Students will engage in lessons, complete practice questions, and work with the teacher to identify and address their individual weaknesses. Additionally, the course offers test-taking strategies and time management tips to boost confidence and performance on exam day.

About the sessions: Each class meeting will be broken into two 50-55 minute classes (with a 5-10 minute break in between), one taught by an ARHS Math teacher and the other by an ARHS English teacher. Students will need to bring their charged device and they are welcome to bring snacks. Please note: If a student misses a class session, make-up classes will not be offered; however, the teachers can provide students with information about what they missed.
Cost: $250, which includes an SAT prep book for each student to keep. This book will be used as part of the courses and should be brought to each session. Students will receive their book at the first class meeting. Please note: if you would benefit from financial assistance to enroll in the course, please contact Guidance Director Lisa Connery at lconnery@nsboro.k12.ma.us.
Registration details: Course registration will open on Friday, August 15. I will send a follow-up message with the registration link when it is available. Please monitor your email if you are interested in enrolling. The course enrollment will be limited to 36 students.
If you are unable to register, the course has reached capacity. If you are unable to register and would like to be put on a waitlist, please email the SAT Prep Program Coordinator, Lindsay Coppens, at lcoppens@nsboro.k12.ma.us. If there is enough interest, we may be able to run an additional section of the course.
After registering, you will receive an email with information about the pretest and class meetings. If a student is unable to take the pretest, they can still participate in the class; however, the pretest provides valuable information to the student and teachers. Please feel free to reach out to Ms. Coppens if you have any questions or need further information.
Sincerely,
Sean Bevan
